Granary Wharf, Leeds Canal

Matthew worked with ISIS Waterside Development Ltd to develop the public realm strategy for this 2.8acre canalside site, close to Leeds City station and the City Centre. The proposals had to take full account of the heritage considerations, including the effect of the development upon the Conservation area and listed buildings and structures, as well as the nature conservation interests.

Comprehensive analysis of the site and its locality, led to a design solution focussed on the creation of a series of high quality adaptable spaces, with a strong emphasis on the use of the vernacular materials of granite and Yorkstone.
